- Racquel Browder, a 2023 graduate of Southern State's Associate Degree Nursing Program, has been named Nursing Rookie of the Year at Clinton Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Wilmington, Ohio.

- The °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20 on °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's Hillsboro Campus, Room 347, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro for their regular Board meeting. The board will enter into executive session to discuss the purchase or sale of property.
- Southern State's Fall Semester begins August 26
- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's fall semester begins August 26 — registration is currently underway. Southern State offers associate degree programs in the areas of business, computer technology, engineering, education, human and social services, health sciences, and law enforcement, as well as one-year certificate programs in accounting, aviation: general, airframe and powerplant, medical assistant technology, phlebotomy, practical nursing, and real estate.

- A team of faculty, staff, and students from °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ was invited to present at the 31st annual Community Colleges of Appalachia (CCA) Conference held in Asheville, North Carolina.

- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ has released its President's List and Dean's List for academic excellence for Spring Semester 23/24. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a specific number of academic credit hours. Those who achieve the Dean's List are full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Theatre is pleased to announce its upcoming 19th, 2024-2025 season, including "Radium Girls," playing November 8-10, 2024. "Othering" will appear in the spring, playing April 4-6, 2025. Both productions will be presented in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Theatre Company presents "Voices of the Earth: From Sophocles to Rachel Carson and Beyond," playing on Saturday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- Southern State to hold youth summer program June 24-27
- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ is excited to announce Kids Career Encounter, a Summer Enrichment Program taking place June 24-27, 2024. Designed to foster creativity, learning, and personal growth, Kids Career Encounter offers students the chance to learn about different career pathways. Each session will be filled with fun activities that relate to one or more of Southern State's academic programs.

- Thirty-six graduates of °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's Associate Degree Nursing Program were recognized during a May 2 pinning ceremony at the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- Southern State Celebrates 48th Commencement Ceremony
- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ recognized the graduating class of 2024 during its 48th annual commencement ceremony held Friday, May 3 in the College's Patriot Center.
- Southern State hosts Ohio Code Scholar event
- On Monday, May 6, 2024, Southern State hosted the second annual end-of-year celebration for students, faculty, and staff involved in the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS) project. This event occurred in the Patriot Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and culminated the program's work in southern Ohio, supporting the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS).
- Auditions for °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Theatre Company's "Voices of the Earth" will be May 22
- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Theatre Company will hold auditions for the summer production of "Voices of the Earth: From Sophocles to Rachel Carson and Beyond," compiled by Rush Rehm and Charlie Junkerman of Stanford Repertory Theatre.
- Southern State Computer Science Program and COSI team up for STEM event
- On May 1, Southern State's Computer Science Department, led by Associate Professor Dr. Joshua Montgomery, organized a STEM MiniDome Celebration Day at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus for students.
- Southern State awards Study Abroad Scholarships
- In partnership with EF Study Abroad, Southern State will be traveling to the British Isles: England, Ireland, and Wales May 16-26, 2024. Among the travelers are five students who have been awarded the inaugural study abroad scholarship from the Sara M. Barrere Memorial Trust Scholarship Fund, made possible through the College's Foundation.

- Career Connections Job and College Fair held at °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ
- On April 24, Southern State's Department of Health Sciences hosted a Career Connections Job Fair and RN-BSN College Fair. Over 50 current and prospective students attended as well as 10 employers and 5 colleges with whom Southern State partners for seamless transfer opportunities.
- Four °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ Students Named to the All-Ohio Academic Team
- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ is pleased to announce that four current °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ students have been named to the All-Ohio Academic Team. The students, joining other honorees from Ohio's community college system, will be honored with scholarships for their academic excellence, leadership, and community service. A ceremony to recognize this year's award winners will be held virtually on April 26 as part of Community College Month in Ohio.
- Get on the road to a high-paying career in four weeks with Southern State's Truck Driving Academy
- One quick route that leads toward gainful employment is via °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ's Truck Driving Academy (TDA). In just four weeks (or eight weekends), students can earn a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and gear up for a new career.
- Southern State student travels to Arizona to tour Intel Facility
- Southern State student Kayla Bradshaw, of Clinton County, is one of 25 women in Ohio to recently be awarded an Intel Semiconductor Scholarship; a scholarship established by Intel Corporation. Of these 25 scholarship recipients, only 8 were selected to visit the Intel Semiconductor Facility in Phoenix, Arizona for a hands-on experience. Bradshaw was one of the 8 students selected to attend.

- Southern State's Phi Theta Kappa Chapter attends Ohio Region Awards Conference
- The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Ohio Region Awards Conference was held on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th. The event was hosted by Cuyahoga Community College. Southern State's chapter had four officers and one advisor in attendance. In total, 14 chapters were in attendance/represented. This was a time of fellowship, celebration, and business proceedings.

- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ will be offering a new training opportunity beginning in April. The Court Officer Basic Training Program, to be held at the Greenfield Workforce Development Center, 1300 Jefferson Street in Greenfield, kicks off on April 23, 2024.

- The Theatre Department at °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ presents "Firebringer," with music and lyrics by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski, book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Brian Holden, and arranged by Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers, playing April 12-14 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.

- Associate of Business degree with Agriculture Concentration offered this Fall at Southern State
- Southern State's Associate of Applied Business degree with an agriculture concentration is slated to begin in August. This initiative has been designed with local high schools that offer an agriculture program aligned with College Credit Plus. Students who may be interested in this pathway are encouraged to start planning now.

- °ÄÃŲÊÀúÊ·¿ª½±¼Ç¼²éѯ is pleased to announce the employment of Elizabeth Crabtree, an Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, who will serve the student population beginning January 8. This position is funded through a mental health support grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
